J55 3D printer: build volume.

The ideal footprint-to-tray ratio.

The J55 3D printer features a special rotating build tray and stationary print head, which allows for a better footprint-to-tray ratio and maintains the excellent quality and resolution that PolyJet technology provides. Read on to learn more details about how this unique solution works, and how it compares to our other PolyJet printers.

The details.

The printing tray on the J55 is divided into the active printing area and the transfer zone, which remains empty throughout the printing process. The transfer zone allows for a faster printing process, preventing time delay as a result of axis motion during the printing process. The transfer zone area is dynamic, and changes depending on the size and placement of models on the tray. This allows the print head to print a layer and reposition within the same rotation of the print tray. The transfer zone also reduces the time needed for the print head to purge.

Transfer zone.

The transfer zone is essential for efficient print time and part quality therefore, using the entire tray for active printing without the transfer zone is not possible.

Three separate swaths.

The printing tray is broken up into three swaths. In general, the print jobs placed on the inner swath can finish up to three times faster than print jobs placed on the outer swath.

Comparing models.

When we compare the J55 to other models in the Stratasys PolyJet portfolio, there are some significant and unique differences that make it stand out from the rest.
